Helping All Voices be Noticed

Helping All Voices be Noticed (HAVN) is a youth-led initiative based in Singapore, we aim to make everyday life more welcoming for the city’s migrant worker community. From setting up dedicated social spaces in worker dormitories, home to 4000 migrant workers, to organising festive food drives and donation networks, our project is built around connection. We also run workshops that bring Singaporean youth closer to the stories and challenges of the migrant workforce, built around connection.
Creating Community for Singapore's Migrant Workers
During the pandemic, my 82-year-old grandfather was alone in Karnal when lockdowns left him without access to basic needs, but within hours of reaching out, a support team, made up of migrant workers, came to his aid with compassion and care. Later, in Singapore, I saw a mother pull her child away from migrant workers repairing a road, calling them “unhygienic,” a painful contrast to the humanity I had witnessed earlier. These two moments, one of support and one of exclusion, shaped my drive to champion dignity for migrant communities. What began as small acts of kindness grew into HAVN, a project that now transforms dorm spaces, runs youth workshops, builds digital tools, and fosters connection for over 4,000 migrant workers.
